A wine from Brokenwood, which really is the worst type of wood to get.
Quite obvious fading in colour around the rim of the wine. Dark fruits on the nose, quite a bit of dark chocolately oak most probably from the McLaren Vale component of the wine. Some vanilla nuances which are pleasantly balanced. Palate initially came across as lean especially on the mid-palate. Think the Merlot component could be increased. Rather strong tannins apparent on the finish. Somehow with some aeration, the whole wine fleshed out and was in much better balance. After some time, it became a truly enjoyable wine, the fruit was in better prominence balancing all the other aspects of the wine.
